Dunsfold Park Planning Application for new Surrey Village
Dunsfold Park Ltd, the company which owns and operates Dunsfold Aerodrome, has submitted plans for 1,800 new homes, an expanded business park and community facilities including a country park to Waverley Borough Council. The company says the development would be in the form of a new ‘Surrey village’.
The council refused plans for 2,600 homes on the brownfield site back in 2008. Unlike much of the borough the aerodrome is neither in green belt or the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
For the last few years the residents of Waverley have been asking why the planners seem steadfastly against the sensible decision to create a new village on the land at Dunsfold Aerodrome – perhaps this application will go some way to addressing the major shortfall in housing land available in Waverley without the need to force unwanted developments of 300+ poorly designed off-the-shelf standard developer shoe-boxes on greenfield sites around towns like Farnham?
We’ll keep you posted on the progress of the application as we hear about it but fingers crossed Waverley will listen to the pleas of the local residents and give serious consideration to the Dunsfold Park site.
