Contemporary twist on Traditional Surrey Barn for New Private Home, Frensham, Surrey

Designed as a Contemporary reworking of the Traditional Surrey barn this project takes a simple rectangular building form with gable end pitched roofs and creates a comfortable five bedroom home with open plan living space to the rear.

Materials include core-ten ‘rusty’ steel cladding over the front entrance, weather timber cladding, large sliding partitions and shutters externally, hand-made clay tiles, random coursed stonework with brick detailing including ‘long-short’ work around window openings and canted brick buttresses. The single storey rear ‘extension’ has a standing seam steel roof with matching soffits, fascias and rainwater goods keeping a muted colour tone throughout.

Internally, large floor to ceiling door openings and sliding panels maintain the contemporary feel with vaulted ceilings and rooflights.

Works due to commence on site Spring 2016 with completion early 2017.
