Two New Projects – Two Styles
This week saw the completion of the sketch design models for two new projects – both respond to their site and local architecture but the results are quite different.
One project draws its inspiration directly from the local vernacular Surrey ‘Arts & Crafts’ style and complements the surrounding architecture without the need to jar or shock. The other project takes materials local to that site, stone, render and timber cladding and the predominant local roof forms and creates a more contemporary building while still respecting the surrounding buildings.
These project are an interesting example of how the practice lets each project be a response to the needs of the client, the site and its surroundings.
